Nero 8 Capture Probs

When I try to capture video from my VCR to Nero 8 the footage captures ok for about 3 minutes then seems to 'drop frames' and become 'animated' (the audio, however, continues to flow perfectly). Before capture I do get an error message saying something like, 'no supported capture device detected', but I have used this VCR with Nero 7 before without any problems and it does still capture approx 3 minutes of footage even after the error message. Any ideas?
I also have problems importing DVD's to Nero. It doesn't seem to matter what size of DVD I am importing i.e 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 90 minutes, it still will only import some of each DVD. It starts to import but then stops the import at whatever amount of time it seems to choose, analyses media files etc, and all before the full length of DVD has imported. I have sometimes tried to import the same DVD again and it has stopped importing at a completely different section on the DVD which shows there is no consistancy with this problem. Any ideas on this?
I run Windows 2000 SPK4 and have a Winfast VC100 WDM capture card.
