Hey everyone,
While I was softmodding my Xbox using a Splinter Cell save game hack, I accidentally deleted my dashbaord files.
Now when I boot it I keep getting an error "21".
Is there any way to restore the original dashboard without a modchip?
Sincerely,
Bakuchris

I'm assuming you cant run discs, you may have to open your xbox and hot swap the hard drive.

Oh yes i forgot to say , i fixed it through Splinter Cell 1st game, then launched the softmod, and then ftp to the xbox, and copied the Missing Dashboard files, and then it was fixed. I'm glad it's fixed :)

Good to hear. Mine gave me that error a while ago and it was completely useless. Nothing would load at all. I had to hot swap and replace the dashboard with xbhdm, but its been perfect ever since.

Usually it is impossible to completely brick something from just a softmod it just makes the repair process harder. Follow the above tutorial and you should have a working xbox.
If you do try the tutorial I suggest you remove the ide cable from the dvd drive before starting. It makes the process much easier.

Have xbhdm at the very first screen when it boots.
Remove the ide cable running to the dvd drive of the xbox before starting it.
Start the xbox and you should now see error 12 the xbox hard drive is unlocked at this screen and can now be modified.
Remove the ide cable running to the xbox hard drive and plug the master ide cable(your hard drive is usually on this cable) into the xbox hard drive.
Now start xbhdm and do what you did before it should work now.

That could also be used to fix an error 21 if anyone else needs to do that.
