I did a quick search before posting & didn't find anything, hopefully this hasn't been asked before.
I installed the Feb 2009 Microsoft Security Updates. Afterward I started noticing some issues with computer (certain programs weren't working, slowness, etc)
In an attempt to pinpoint what was wrong ,I unsuccessfully tried to do a system restore. When that didn't work I just uninstalled them using Add/Remove.
I would like to try re-installing them as I think perhaps the problem wasn't the updates at all, but I don't know for sure. So I'd like to reinstall them one at a time. However, when I go to Windows Update it doesn't show the updates when it scans my computer for the latest updates available as it's showing that they are already installed in Update History
Any ideas on how to re-install them?

You have to de-install them before you can re-install them.

They were uninstalled via the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Is there another spot where they need to be uninstalled? in the windows update page somewhere?

Why did system restore not work. Do you have NortonIS or Antivirus. A dirty little secret. You have to turn Norton off(disble it, to use system restore!!!!

garmoon: yes, I was concerned about that also...tried several restore points prior to the Security updates being installed and none worked. In my wishful thinking world, I just figured that it may have had something to do with the fact that maybe MS won't allow you to restore prior to updates...I know, probably dumb but that was my first thought.
I don't use Norton but Zone Alarm for both anti-virus & firewall. Would those need to be turned off in order for restore to work or is that something particular to Norton?

I don't know about the others, but it couldn't hurt to try. Try googling system restore prob with zone alarm. I had to deep into Norton menu to find "turn this product off". worked find then and now on new pc.

I have all updates from MS for my XP machine TURNED OFF. I have SP2 and that will be it. I have good firewall and antivirus. I feel pretty secure and don't bank on line. If I was ever held up and ask to go to a machine, they would shoot me. I have no debit card nor pin #. We do it the old fashioned way-paper checks.

Check your add/remove again make sure "show all updates" is ticked at top & see if they're still there assuming you know the number of the kb's,or head over to windows update page & see if your history gives the numbers, you have restarted the comp since removing them i assume, still no go,well if your really concerned you could always uninstall the most recent service pack, then restart, run ccleaner & reinstall it then go get those updates, actually that's a point run ccleaner before doing anything else both the registry & cleaner buttons as you could be caching ?? well it's worth a shot
