DDR2 dual channel question

I have 1 stick of ddr2 2GB, 800. my mobo supports only dual channel. this means i need another stick right? could i just get like a ddr512/1GB 800 and stick it in? as long as its 800? or could i throw in a 400/533... etc

Have youu looked up the mobo to see what is supports? Looks at the mobo's QVL to see whats best to buy for it.

Here's one opinion:

According to Kingston

1. Ram pairs must be of the same capacity (256MB or 515MB...)
2. Ram pairs must be of the same speed (PC2700, PC3200...)
3. Ram pairs must have the same number of chips on the stick and either be both single sided or both double sided.

It will work if you violate these rules but you won't be running dual channel.
