Hey i need some help.. im obviously a newbie so bare with me...

I think i need to install some sort of audio thing for my computer..
my sister was cleaning out my computer deleting things from the control panel and may have deleted audio stuff

now i cant hear anything from my computer, i went to check to see if the volume is on mute from the accessories-volume control and a screen popped up saying
"there are no active mixer devices available"

now i went to control panel, sound speech and audio devices and it says "No Audio Device" and i cant click anything...

so i need some help.. im probably gonna have to re install something, if i could be guided in the right direction that would be great

Thanks

To view if the audio device is active or not... (this is with xp) right click on the My computer logo.. select properties... then select the hardware tab then select device manager. Double click on sound, video and game controllers (it will expand).

Are there any cautions/alerts (yellow triangles) present beside any of them?

If so right click on the item and select properties again. Check through the settings to find if you can enable etc. The pic below might be similar to what you see. Sift through the tabs and check.

EDIT: spelling.

that screen does pop up and under the sound, video, game controllers i click on the properties of Audio Codecs. Then it says:
Device type: Sound, video, game controllers
Manufacturer: (Standard System Devices)
Location: Unknown

then below that it says:
This device is working properly.

If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter.

which i did and it didnt help me...

still i cant hear anything from my speakers but everytime the computer is suppose to make a sound, like a pop up sound, the actual computer makes the noise....

Your sound drivers are not installed. Go to your PC or motherboard manufacturer's website and download them.
