basically i installed a new ram and now every time i turn on my computer it logs on and everything and it works for like more than 5mins but then it randomly restarts and when i turn it back on it says sytem has recovered from a serious error it gives me 2 file names

when i take the new ram out my pc works fine

oh and at the start 2 messages cum up all the time even before the new ram they say:

run ddl error specific module could not be found
also at the start when pentium 4 sign cums up theres a blank screen where its like the cmd and there is just a underscore that is flashing, i have to wait a bit and then xp loads up
if i go to the boot menu and select hard drive it gos to xp auto

if i clean install xp then would everything be OK?/

It's definitely the RAM. You can try moving the RAM to a different slot and see if that changes anything.

Seeing the problem is with your ram, i think either your ram is somehow damaged or you possibly have the wrong type of ram needed for your computer. Try using the new ram in another computer to see if the same problem occurs.

1. well you can try and run a diagnostic.
2. You could move the ram into a different slot
3. Put in the old ram and see what happens if it runs fine there is a prob with the ram you have. I would exchange it for a new one.

TIP-
When putting in hardware keep shoes on and touch the case to let out any static you may have. Just a heads up this could cause you to fry your hard ware. Good Luck

Check in BIOS to make sure that the voltage is set correctly...most mainboards default to 1.8v, and most new ram is 1.9v-2.3v
