I am using Remote Desktop to access programs on my desktop with my laptop. I can only connect if I have a user account with a password on the desktop. Is there a way around this? I don't want to have to log on everytime I power up the desktop.

HP Pavilion, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (2 CPUs), 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Professional.

No. Allowing what you are asking to do would be a serious security vulnerability.

I'm not too worried about the security. I think my home network is pretty secure. But maybe it's better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for the reply.

I agree that there are certain activities that can and should be allowed when the security of the network can be guaranteed, but leaving any "holes" just provides opportunities for the "bad guys" and liability for the software maker.

You definitely need a password, it doesn't really have anything to do with your home network being secured or not. By default, the RDP port isn't encrypted, so anyone listening to that port and sees that its open could capture your password if its simple enough, so to not even have a password would leave you wide open.

You can make the remote desktop client remember user name & password, but I do not think it is possible to make the remote desktop built into windows start itself when you start your desktop.
