Just got a projector, pretty impressive but I am using one of those old screens for 8 mm movies. Its a bit silverish, the projected image looks Ok but I am sure I am missing out in picture quality, not to mention the square design does not lend itself well to wide screen.

Not too crazy about the idea of spending $100's on a new screen, has anyone simply used a big shade for a screen ?
Seems to me I can just go down to home depot and get a nice 6 ft window shade for $25 or so, rig up a set of hang up bracket on the ceiling, and I'll be all set.
Or is that just too half assed, do these purpose built screens really offer something that a shade would not ?
