This has actualy been solved but thought I would post it in case another can benifit from it. One night I smelled the smell of burning electronics. Shortly after that smell the computer shut off and would not turn back on. So I open it up. MB looked fine and then I looked inside the PSU. The PSU bord had a burn mark and a cracked Dioid. That confirmed the PSU had gone bad.

I went out and got a replacement and the system spun up but would not post. Thats when I began the troubleshoot. I removed the memory sticks and it gave me a no memory beep. I placed one stick to all slots to see if something might be damaged. All slots it would boot. So I try with the other stick and it also booted. Strange, so both sticks must be good. I put them both where they go. Now the system will POST but will not get past the splash screen. (this usualy indicates something is wrong with a controller of some type)

I then removed all devices on the inside and nothing got it past the Splash screen. I did not have heat compound available so I did not remove the CPU. After awhile of scratching my head I decided to remove all external devices. It booted but with errors of course KB and mouse not hooked up. I plugged the mouse and KB back in and it booted fine. (Make sure you plug the KB and mouse in the same USB slot they have always used or windows may not recognize them until it boots all the way up.) The computer booted right up with no problem.

One by one I hooked all the externals back up except for the printer. The system is back up and running with no problems. I have not hooked the printer back up since I got it working and have not needed to print anything yet. There is a chance the printer could have been stalling the boot up since it does have mem card slots.

The MB is Asus m2a-vm. I only posted because reinserting internal devices usualy does the trick. This required me to go one step further and remove all externals before it would boot again. Indeed it is strange but sometimes its just a mystery like that. Just thought I would toss this out to anyone it may help. My issue is fixed and that is how I did it.
