Asrock 4coredual SATA 2, 1GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM, ATI HD3850 AGP8x Graphics, and a cheap core 2 duo you guys recomend, and also the same but with a quad core Q6600.
I want to play games like COD4/5 and GRID racing, mabey crisis. how many FPS should i expect to get?

also i have another question. you know how you can ajust AA in your graphics card settings or in the game, would it be better to set up AA in your graphics card? improve performance? i just thought that if AA was set in the gfx config the gfx card would be doing more of the work...? anyway, im probably wrong lulz.

tanks for any help!

If fear you wont be doing much gaming on the titles you listed with an 8x AGP video card. You need a motherboard with a 16x PCI-E slot and one of the newer video cards to go into that slot.

The HD3850 AGP isn't too bad, but to get decent performance in recent games, you need to go PCI express.

it sucks because i spent $300 on the card. ive heard that PCI E 16x compared to 8x AGP doesnt really have any effect on games whatsoever... but since i have to go pci e 4x with my motherboard, what pci-e card would you also recoment. also, how much do you think i could get back for my current card on ebay? ^^ its in perfect condition and ive only had if for... 4 months...mabey... ya

thanks guys!

If it's an actual 4x slot, you won't be able to attach a graphics card, that isn't what 4x PCIe slots are for. I hope it was a while back you spent $300 on that card, they're not worth anywhere near that much now.

many card actually do function properly in the 4x slot on this motherboard, but their just running at a quarter of there full speed, do you think it would be any better in buying a new card, or just keep the agp 8x one i have now?

thanks sammorris :)

Then it's not a 4x slot, it's a 16x slot running at 4x. There's a difference.
edit: confirmed by looking at picture of motherboard.

COD4 isn't especially demanding on the CPU, any reasonable dual core will do, an E7400 will be more than adequate.
