As my understanding, transcoding/encoding uses lots of resources, just because of dealing with lots of data at a time. So it takes as much resources as possible.
If it takes much longer than before, I suggest checking;

Memory usage (Nero?s log should have that info.)
Free spaces of HD, (clean up unnecessary files/apps. Also check DMA status)
Scan Virus/ Malware
Interferences with other soft (Any new software installed?)
Apps those runs behind (Check with Task Manager)

I hope this helps,

Have you check your Drive's DMA status?

If you talking about converting/encoding (saving to a folder, not the actual burning) DMA burner status makes no difference.

You can check your HD's speed with this (grab the free version):

To check if it's only a Nero problem (rather than a system problem) grab DVD Flick (free) and see how long it takes to convert (set it to not burn).

Looking for a new burner? Check here.
