MKV ASS SUBTITLES PROBLEM

I have an mkv file (anime) with ASS subtitles.

When I converted it to dvd using convertxdvd, the subtitles do not display.

I was told the subtitles are outside the dvd picture area.

Is there a way to correct this so that the subtitles will appear on the dvd?

I extracted the subtitles out from the mkv using OGMCleaver and then converted the ASS subtitles into srt format but I got an error reading while using convertxtodvd.

Would appreciate any help or advice.
