I have an hard disk that i took out from an old computer now i am trying to get all the data out of it, it's not working, it's making this weird noise, and when it's connected on the IDE, it stopped windows from booting.
What can i do to fix that problem cause i have some very important files on it?
A little more info would be nice, like what are the specs of your new computer.
You could try using a external HD bracket. In such a bracket you can connect your old HD, and the bracker is connected by USB. Basically it's a do-it-yourself external HD. Since connecting the HD to your new computer is giving the problem, this might be a work around.
Another alternative is to connect the drive to another computer (a friends computer for instance), and transfer the date on his HD/burn it to a DVD/transfer it to a memory stick.
Basic solutions really, but the best I can do with the information you provided.
i tried to connected it with an external box, it's not a SATA hard disk, i bought a USBIDE box thought that could work, nothing when now I connected directly to the motherboard with the IDE caple it regconnized in the BIOS but when I tried to start up the PC normally to go to windows that's when I have an error message says windows cannot log on cause hardware problem, and when I took the hard disk off the pc function normally.

Well, I'm sorry to say that weird noises coming from the HD usually mean that it's damaged/dead! So don't be totally surprised if you have to kiss that data goodbye.
Still, you could try connecting the HD to another computer, maybe an older one that has only IDE connectors and Windows XP. Try a friend, collegue or neighbour. If a HD fails on me, I always go to this one friend who has about 8 systems in his house. I'll pop it into a few of his computers and I know if it's broken or not.
