Ok i have a LEGITIMATE STORE BOUGHT copy of a Codebreaker V 9.3
However... its starting to look a litlle scratched up, so i wanted to burn a copy of it before its too late...
Is there any way to burn it onto a CD-R and then use it in a non-modded, non-swapmagic, non-magically-enhanced FAT ps2?
I have Alcohol, Nero, and every kind of tool you can get.
all i want to do is have a backup.
NO PIRACY HERE XP

SWEET!!!
SO i got it to go to the "free MC boot" thing and it says milti install and single install ect..
one question..
what does this accomplish?
and can i then, how do i use my burned copy of CBv 9.3?(on CD)
AND
after i boot the CB9.3 can i use the "day1" option?( ive heard stories of it black-screening)
soory bout the questions XD
p.s.
i have no HDD but i do have a 45$ 18 gb kingston usb and a new 12GB sanDISK.

What this accomplishes is that you can play backups on your PS2 after being patched with the ESR disc patcher.
Free McBoot is a method of running homebrew applications directly off a Memory Card as a stand alone loader. No boot discs or modchips are required once installed
you can load elf files off the memory card or a usb device.
I have never had luck with backups of 9.3, but I do with the ELF file of it.
If you go to this site and register, then go to Special files, you will find the backups there.
This site here explains what ESR does.
We actually have many threads on A/D about fmcb and esr also.
And in my profile I posted a bit about it some time ago.
Day 1 files should work fine with it as long as Codebreaker recognizes the USB flash drive.
You will just have to test them.
I have no problem on my FAT V7 with Day 1 files, its on my V14 PS2 and Codebreaker 10 that I do, because of the USB driver issue.

WELL THATS FANTASTIC!!!
So I have a mac and i want to make and ELF of the game GTA:san ANDEREAS.
how would i do that?
oh and i got the freeMCboot to work on my FAT ps2 via my awesome codebreaker..
p.s.
can this splended program play NON NTSC/UC games.... like KH2 FINALMIX??!?!?!

I found an ELF of the CBv9.3 and... when i booted it up i put my memory stick in but when i went to day 1 there were no files?!
oh yeah..
I i were download a game off of a torrent.. IF I WAS TO!
Would i download it as an ISo? Because burning on DVDS is not an option as i have only a CD burner...
AND im still confuzzled..
how do i burn a CD iso of sonic riders onto a CD and bootn it?
can i use freeMCboot?
like do i click LaunchDisk or whatever?

The reason that i am asking all of these questions is because i have a codebreaker 10.. but when i made my own day1 files i went to place them in the codebreaker... WHAM!!
NO DAY1 FILE MAKER SUPPORT!!
my ultimate goal is this..
to burn a codebreaker ELF onto a CD, then successfully boot it on my ps2, THEN upload all of my cheats via USB, THEN start my ligit KH2 disk and use the cheats.
that. is my goal in life.

Ok you need to download the Day 1 files from here and place them on a usb drive, then copy them to the Codebreaker Database

Thats ok, we all started out somewhere too.
Ok first most CD images will be in .bin format. DVD images are usually ISO images
You can't patch CD images to work with ESR, they need to be converted from CD-DVD
Doesn't help you much if you only have a CD burner
DVD burners are pretty cheap anymore. I only paid $45 for my last one.They might even be cheaper. I haven't bought one in awhile.
So if you bought a DVD burner, you would then patch the ISO image with the ESR disc patcher v24, then burn using imgburn at 4x speed on DVD-R
There may be some way in the future for fmcb and ESR to play CD, but not right now.

As far as I know you need to use the Codebreaker 9.2 elf to add unofficial or custom day 1 files.
You will find it at that site I mentioned above.
Now with fmcb 1.8 I haven't actually tested using the backed up Codebreaker or ELF, then launching Original Disks.
I can try later.

WELL i tryied it again and this time with the CB V9.2... i think ill just buy 1... but then again i need that money to buy a HDD... choices...
So let me get this straight..
Can i "get" a PS2 Game in a .ELF formatt and play it directly from my HHD/USB with UlaunchELF right? or do i have to burn it onto a CD?
OR do i "get" it as an ISO and burn it? OR a .bin? or an IMG??!?!?!
SOO CONFUZING!!!!

Ok what is the problem exactly. Is it that the Codebreaker does not see your USB drive? or does not see the .cbc files on it.
The .cbc files have to be in the ROOT of the USB drive, they can't be inside a folder.
To play games off a USB device
You need to download the USBAdvance.elf file.
You then need the USB Utility that will transfer your ISO images from your pc to the USB drive.
Then you launch the USBAdvance.elf and it should see the games on the USB drive.
Again it will matter if the USB device is compatible or not and if the PS2 game is compatible

I am also going to give you a link to an older PS2 faq. It is all in numbered form and should explain a lot of things what a PS2 can do, how to burn games etc.

its not that i have the games in a folder or anything... i have them in the ROOT ot my usb stick when i select "usb" and it loads there is nothing in it!!
oh, and how do i install the usbadvance? i just drag teh folders into my mem card? or usb? and go to install .elf?

I would have to say your USB drive is not compatible or your not using the right 9.2 Codebreaker
This one works perfectly for official and unofficial .cbc files.
To run USBAdvance, just copy the USBADVN.ELF to your USB drive or to your memory card and then launch it by pressing X
That is how all ELF files are launched, either from USB or mc.
They are applications for the PS2, much like our .exe files for pc.

Oh my usb is campatible because i have used it ALOT of times in my v.10 plus if it wasnt i wouldnt be able to use the codebreaker exploit

Ok duh, I should have realized you have used the same usb drive for your other codebreaker.
No you don't need to convert a game to an ELF file.
The game itself has an SLUS,SCUS file that is launched once the game is inserted. That is basically its ID file or executable.
When a person backups an Original PS2 game using imgburn (its free and a burning program), they make an ISO image of the game.
Then you patch it if using ESR, and burn it using imgburn.

liek burn on a disk?
i want to load my games from a 18GB usb.
can i do that?
i would just olace teh game file(iso,elf WHATEVER)
use ESR or hdload or usb advance or WHATEVER then boot the game?

Yes I explained above you need to use the USBExtreme Utility to copy the ISO image to the USB drive
Well tuturials are great actually. It saves members a lot of time in answering the same questions over and over.
That is kind of why they were created, lol.
Then if you have a problem with it, too ask the questions.

I just "got" a ps2 game and when I Un-Rar the game teh file is a .mdf!?!

It is another file format. Alcohol 120% makes .mdf and .mds file
You will have to use something like Daemon Tools to mount the image, so that you can copy it to the USB drive.
Or if you have some other type of mounting software like Nero etc.
Also in case you didn't notice or I forgot to mention on how to use Codebreaker elf with fmcb 1.8
I go to options in Codebreaker, set the Disc tray to OFF
Then go to this thread, scroll down to CB_launch and download the CB_launch.rar file
Extract it and then using uLaunch.elf copy the CB_launch.elf file from your usb drive to the BOOT folder on the memory card
Or you can just leave it on the USB drive in a folder called BOOT and have that in the PS2 when using it.
CB_launch.ELF
This little program was created by jimmikaelkael for users with Free MC Boot on thier memory card. What this CB_launch.elf does is upon launch (from codebreaker) it will kick the system back to the Sony menu for the user to cheat on their choice of without the need of extra loaders:
PS2 original discs
regualr PS2 backup discs (if you have a mod chip)
ESR patched PS2 backups
HDLoader
USB Advance

so what i does is send teh system to when it say browser,ECt so you can just put your game in?
do you think i can mount those images to my usb by using my macs built in DISK UTILITY?
it can copy images and stuff, i did it when i installed linux on my freinds comp, cuz we had to burn a CD of the Iso.

i can just mount the .mds image to my USB, without any converting, then launch it with??? i tried to install usb advance or whatever, but when i loaded teh install.elf it came up with a blue and green screen that said load to memory and all kinds or stuff icouldnt understand..

If it can allow you to mount the image, then yes thats fine.

Ok I forgot you have a mac. I am not sure if the USBUtil ver 1.02 (English).exe is compatible with mac or not
There is another program called usbinsane.exe that allows one to copy ISO images to USB drive.
If they don't work do you have a computer with Windows XP, otherwise I have no idea what to do on a mac.
So once you are able to copy games to USB by one of the programs I mention above, then you launch the USBAdvance.elf from either your memory card or your USB drive.
Once launched it should look like this.

hi!! this request if for u smoky, i have codebreaker v10 .elf, since day 1 files cannot be downloaded, i need to input manually al my codes! i cant use a usb pendrive because my ps2 is a slim 75001, then heres the deal... i asking u your cbv10 save the one stored in ur memory card, so i just have to copy to mine! if u dont have v10 file a v9.2 its fine! my v10 is around 1345 games! i hope ur save is bigger than that!. i swerd its been many week and long long nights trying to find the actualized dta base with almost the lastest cheats.

Yes I have the same version PS2 as you, so luckily though I also have my V7 which is what I use to add the codes and update.
I will upload the database a little later this morning. Will let you know.
