I have a minor question: I currently have an old PC which i wanna make a little better (for gaming). It currently has a nvidia geforce 6800 256mb, but I recently bought a new one that came with a 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3450. But i obviously replaced that with a geforce 9800gtx though thats besides the point.
What i really want to know is if i should replace my nvidia geforce 6800 with my ati radeon HD 3450 ???...
I couldn't find any threads on google which could tell me any further so i compared them myself, but i still can't tell whats best, cos some aspects are better on one of them and vice versa.
Those are the sites i used to compare, but i'm not so intelligent when it comes to gpu details and i dunno if i should look at the core clock or the memory bandwith or the pixel fill rate etc.
I'm sure somebody can make more sense out of the details than i could... Remember, its for gaming purposes only and i just wanna know if its worth it to replace :)
its funny because the 6800 is from 2004 i think and the ati is from 2008... whats the graphics card for then? its stupid... i will always use nvidia! (no offense - cos u have a radeon sig)
The HD3450 is designed specifically for basic HD video where the system does not have a graphics card. It is deliberately designed to be the cheapest card you can buy. There are piles of cards that are ridiculously faster than a Geforce 6800, starting as low down as the HD4650 and even the HD4550 probably beats it. Above those there are the HD4670 and HD4830 still in the value segment. Above those the HD4850 and HD4870 as high end cards, then you can use dual or even quad graphics to get more performance than that. The corresponding nvidia counterparts to that list are the 8400GS, 8600GTS, 9600GT, 9800GT, 9800GTX+, GTX260 216core and SLI systems. Overall, in today's market ATI cards represent higher performance for the same cost.
