I got my HP Pavilion dv7 1095 laptop about a week ago, worked fine until I for some reason decided to update the BIOS (which was at F 18, and upgraded to F 26)
after the upgrade the laptop wouldn't boot, all I got was the message that due to some hardware/software changes I had to contact HP service and ask for this recovery CD (which of course didn't ship with the PC)
what I tried first though was to choose the system recovery from the BIOS, which seemed to be working fine. After this I got the same message at boot. So I looked the problem up on the web, and found this:
http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vi...-disc-download/ downloaded it, burned it onto a CD and chose the full recovery tab, which sets it all back to factory-settings.
It worked fine until some install-programs made it all blank, by this I mean that ALL programs were not found, the desktop background was gone, and all there was left was the trash bin.. :S
Tried the recovery again, worked for an hour or so, and then all back again..
By now I have contacted the HP service and got an ISO file, different than the first on. tried this one as well, but it asks for the cmd.exe location, and it is friggin impossible to make a : with the keyboard language that is needed to make C:\Windows\ ...
so what am I supposed to do here? hope any of you guys can help me and that you have managed to read through this too long post ;)
