Hi,

I recently made the mistake of installing a program (bitTorrent) and did not read the screens thoroughly enough before clicking 'next'. The program has f%!#ed up my browser (I use IE version 6) so that now when i try to type in addresses without 'www' it doesn't go to them, instead it goes to some noname search service called Ask.com. I frequently type in https addresses for school servers right in the address bar and it used to just go right to them, now i have to type in the 'https://' every time. I removed the toolbar in Add/Remove programs but it still does it. I've looked everywhere in the internet options for the association that causes this but can't find anything. Does anyone know which registry key i can manipulate to get rid of this problem and go back to how it was before?

Thanks in advance
onya

That's strange.....IE generally doesn't need other programs to f%!#ed it up! Sorry....Firefox is a better alternative in my view.

Download and install HijackThis and post the log it generates. Your more than likely to have a net nasty residing within your machine.

Do not fix anything with hijack....ever, unless you are well versed with this app.

If you post the log here then you could ask a Mod to teleport this thread to the relevant forum, or just post the log to that particular forum.

Thanks for the reply, but I figured it out - you have to download the removal tool from the company itself.
