Epson R280 is junk

I bought a Epson R280 6 weeks ago only to print titles on white printable CDs. After printing maybe 12 to 15 in black only it said it was out of Light Cyan and Ligth Magenta ink. I have never printed anything in color and the printer will not work unless all ink cartridges are working. Contacted Epson and they gave me the lame reply that everytime it boots up it will use a SMALL amount of color ink. I put each cartridge on a gram scale and all 5 of the color cartridges weight the same, the black is much less. Contacted Epson again then they said I have bad ink cartidges (only 6 weeks old). $30 to replace the 2 that it and Epson said were bad. Now it is saying that not only the Cyan and Magenta are out of ink but the yellow is out of ink as well. What does Epson have to say about this now. Sorry!!! that is all, nothing more. Well, that is not true. If I will ship it to them on my dime (about $30 more) they will take a look at it. So if I did that I would have the cost of the printer + $30 for new ink cartridges that were not needed + $30 in shipping and they may or may not repair it. Anyone in my area that wants to take this to the dump for me is welcome to it. What a costly lesson but no more Espon anything for me.

i think you can convert it to somewhat tankless version but you'll have to do a search on that. i've seen it mentioned here on this site a few times which is why i'm telling you about it.

I have CISS installed on an RX280 and RX585.

"I print with impunity".

BTW, the carts that Epson provides with the printer are only "half full".

Of course, Epson will disagree, saying that those are "standard carts" and the ones sold in the store are 'hi-capacity'.

There are a couple of threads in the DVD +-R media forum about CISS and Epson printers. Check it out.

BTW, I am very happy with my RX280 and have printed a couple of hundred (or more) CD/DVDs on it with very little problem.
