I have a Sony TRV19. I have never been able to get the video onto my computer but I haven't really tried. I understand that I can use Nero for the video capture, which I have. The only problem is that I have windows XP 64 on the computer that I'd like to use and Vista home basic on my laptop. Apparently Sony doesn't want to play with either so I can't get the computer to recognize the camcorder. Any thoughts?

I also need some help with the capture. Will nero give me a good enough capture? The particular video that I need to capture is my best friends surprise engagement. I was the only one with a video camera. Thanks for the help!!

How are you hooking the camcorder to the computers?

USB. I bought a firewire cable today to try that. I will post back and let you know how that works out.

Firewire for VIDEO.
USB for PHOTOS.
Always remember the above.

Ok, I did get my computer to find the camera through firewire but when I started the video capture with nero it bombed my computer. I'm assuming I don't have a powerful enough system. I have a dual core 2.2ghz running windows xp pro 64 bit with 4 gb's of ram. Sata primary HDD running at 10k RPM's and the HDD that I'm transferring to is a secondary HDD that is a 500gb sata at 7200rpms. I started the transfer and it completely locked my computer up. I couldn't do anything until I turned the camera off and then it worked fine. Its a rather old PC so i guess it could be something else.

Get WinDV (free) and use that one to capture with.
