DVD-R wont read after burning in XP

Hello
Ok i have searched google for hours and have had no luck.I have a Dual boot system with Vista Home Premium and Xp Pro Media Center 2005.When I burn a DVD movie using clone dvd,anydvd,dvdshrink or DVDdecrypter on DVD-R media the disc burns successful,but when i reinsert the disc the drive does not recognize the disc.It shows up blank.Now this is under XP.If I reboot and switch to Vista the disc is in the drive and tells what it is.DVD+R's burn fine and are read in both system.My DVD burners are Generic DVD Dual 4XMax.My main burner is a Memorex 16X-DDL-IN.Even DVD-R disc I get from a friend that he has burned on his Laptop I get the same thing.The XP system will not read or recognize the DVD media.I have searched for firmware updates on both drives with no luck.Memorex has the same firmware I have,and the generic drive is a BTC drive and they don't have any updates either.The dvd will play fine in my dvd player or Xbox360.Please help Thanks.If you need more info just let me know.Thanks JC

In XP, have you tried uninstalling the IDE channel that the burner is connected to and re-booting?
Assuming the HD is on the Primary and the burner on the Secondary channel.

No I have not tried that but the install of XP and Vista is fresh.Did it yesterday.And I had this problem before I Formated and reinstalled the operating systems.If you think it might help I will do it.
