I notice when I DL and sometimes when I backup my own games, I get a selection of numerous files, such as:

How do you burn these files to a disc playable through Swap Magic?

Well, first of all, you either right-click one of the files and go to "Extract file..." and choose where to put the resulting file or you double-click on one file to open it up in WinRAR and then click on "Extract to..." at the top.

Once you've done that, you SHOULD get one of a number of things:

1.) One large ISO file (with perhaps a .cue file or something).

2.) An MDF file (with a corresponding .mds file).

3.) Some other disc image file.

4.) A bunch of seemingly random files, which are the contents of the disc.

Anyway, all you have to do then is burn the disc to DVD using ImgBurn or Nero or whatever you like. Just make sure you use good media and, if you're burning onto DVD+R, that the Booktype is set to DVD-ROM.

Hope that helps.

Wait, is there a thread on how to change the Booktype for a DVD+R on ImageBurn?

I'm pretty confused right now. Am I changing the Booktype to match the manufacturer of the disc or the drive that burns the disc? Because if it's the disc, I'm using Imation. If it's the drive, I'm using LightScribe.

As far as I can tell, you change the Booktype setting of the DVD burner so that it burns the DVD as a DVD-ROM. So yes, you'd change it depending on the DVD drive you're using.

I never had to mess with booktype of DVD-ROM before and my PS2 games work fine with swap magic.

What I do is once I get the ISO, I just burn it with DVD decrypter or Nero and it works great.

Maybe my default booktype was selected for me behind the scenes? Oh well, I'm not complaining!

I think smoky said something about how newer slim PS2s are better equipped to play any type of DVD media, be they DVD-R, +R, -ROM, etc.

So if the PS2 you got off of Craig's List was a newer slim PS2, then that's probably why.
