What hardware is the fastest in BD encoding ?

I am curious as to what hardware other people are using for BD encoding.

Does it matter whether you use external or internal hard drives?

Does anyone see huge differences in times between BD Drives?

Do Intel and AMD's best CPU's run similar encode times or is there a noticable difference?

If you were going to break down the work load, which components are used most in encoding. Does the CPU take on 100% of the work load or is there something else that can speed up times?

Encoding video is very CPU intensive and If the program you use to encode is multi-threaded it can take advantage of a muti-core processor. Your best bet is a quad core processor for faster encode times.

I have a quad-core AMD Phenom II 810 I encoded all 14 episodes of south park season 12 onto 1 blu-ray with TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 in 1 houre but if I am using BD RB then it takes about 12 hours to copy a movie

need to order some DL discs from ebay

Nice. I am actually looking at getting a quad core as I type this. I am an AMD fan myself, just because I can't see spending $600-$1000 on a Ci7.

Does hard drive speed factor into encoding? I am curious about this because I have a raptor raid0 set up right now and I am testing 2 different systems to see which computer will give me the best times. I hate waiting 20+ hours for an encode. I understand that CPU power is the overall factor in encoding times, but RAM and Hard Drive speed have to play a 10-20% role you would think. Or no?
