I am having the darnedest time finding a simple 1 program solution
that allows me to rip chapters to AVI. Here's what I mean.

On some DVDs there are deleted scenes and EXTRAs that I want
to rip to AVIs on my HD. AutoGK and DVDx only allow me to rip
the whole main movie.

Magic DVD Ripper does allow me to rip chapters (Extras/deleted scenes)
from a DVD but the video quality is blurry. Not sharp at all. So
I know it can be done..

So can someone put me on to a "DVD to AVI ripper" all-in-one prodcut
that allows me to rip chapters with decent quality??

Thanks!
Tom

AGK can select the extras - they are simply saved as a separate AVI files.

If you rip the complete movie (from the disk to the hard drive) then in AGK you normally select the .IFO file that is associated with the main title.
Subsequent to that, you can still select the relevant .IFO file for Extras and add them to the Queue.

An example would be where the main title is VTS_01_0.IFO and an extra may be VTS_04_0.IFO

To check what is contained in the Extras (normally you don't want an FBI warning) you can open the ripped movie with DVD Shrink.
Click 'Re-author' and drag the 'extra' from right to left and play it.
You can even save it as a separate movie folder by clicking 'Backup'.

Or simply play the VOB file with your media player and check the content.

Thanks for replying but..

if I rip DVD's to images, don't they take like 9 GB on my harddrive?

The whole idea was to find a "1 program/1 Pass" SW program that
allows me to Rip a DVD directly to a 800MB file on my Hard Drive
and then also rip the "extras" to another AVI file of some size
less than or equal to 800MB.

Now the reason I spoke of chapters is because the "extras" are often
mixed in with movie-previews which I don't want to rip. So I just
want to rip certain chapters.. Maybe I am using the wrong term.
maybe they are all individual movie images and not really chapters??

I would like a very simple 1 program solution to do this.

Sorry for being a knob..

A 'Chapter' in the context of DVD movies, denotes a scene change.
They are stepped through when you click 'Skip' on the remote.

Both the main movie and extras on the disk can contain chapters.

A 'one pass' program that rips the files and outputs an AVI is storing the ripped files on the hard drive:no matter that it later deletes the source file, the effect is the same as ripping the disk with a ripping program - it's just hidden from view.

An excellent program for ripping a DVD to the hard drive is DVDFab HD Decrypter.
For converting the ripped files to AVI, use AGK.
To pick out particular bits and pieces from a ripped DVD and save to a folder for later conversion to AVI, use DVD Shrink.
