I admit that I do not understand the mechanics behind burning but I can follow a pattern and so I have successfully burned maybe 600 DVDs using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrpyter with few problems ... until now. DVD Decrpyter has just stopped working. I get an Device Not Ready Medium Not Present message. Now I have used many different brands of DVD+R media and never had a problem before so I don't think its the brand of media. I thought maybe I burned out my drive so I bought a new one, but I got the same message. I uninstalled and reinstalled both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrpyter but still the same message. I stumped.

Have you installed the drivers for the new disc drive?

You might also be able to check it using the Add Hardware function. I'm not too smart about these things, though, so I could just be picking at straws here.

Additionally, have you recently added any sort of security program or split up your computer into separate users? 'Cuz when I created separate computer accounts for my family, ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter couldn't detect my DVD drive on my nephew's account, only on the administrator account.

This is messed up. At first I was going to say are you sure you have a DVD burner, but of course you do since you burnt over 600 DVDs.

Can you update the firmware on your DVD drive perhaps? See if there is a new firmware update?

The new disk drive did not come with drivers and the place where i bought them say they are needed. Remember that the problem started BEFORE I bought I new drive. I had simply assumed that I burned out the old one.

I do not know what "firmware" is nor how to check it.

Could it be a software problem, such as some setting on DVD Decrypter that wrong? I have my doughts about this myself because I reinstalled everything.

This might help: I cannot burn CDROMs either. I get a similar message. The burner does not beleive that there is a blank disk in drive when there is.
