Sagem MYX-7 turns on by itself ?

Hi

My 72-year old father has recently inherited a Sagem MYX-7 which he loves (he's pretty tech-savvy for his age). But he reckons that every time Orange send him a text, the phone turns itself on. As he doesn't use it that often, he keeps it turned off, but finds it turned on a few days later and almost out of battery power.

He says he's witnessed it turn itself on when it was on his coffee table at home, and says it's only texts from Orange that do this. I've Googled extensively but can find no similar issues - so, is this even possible, or is the old boy going loopy ?
