why aren't emeulators working on cyclo ds

i own a cyclods evolution with 1.54 firmware and the imitation r4 that has been going around. they both play the same ds games except for gta:ctw fixed which will only play on the r4. the real issue i have is that the cyclods will not play nesds or SNEmuldS or any other emulator i have tried. as far as i know nothing that goes on the cyclods needs to be patched since it does it automatically and it is supposedly the superior product. has anyone else had this issue or is it just me?
