I want the only file to show on the list to be the one I place on the USB drive.
I will be loading the file thatI put on the drive and won't be able to see which one I'm loading

also the system says FAT and I was wondering if I need to change to FAT32 as I keep reading where it says format to FAT32 but I use the USB drive as it is and have had no problem.

INFO - the device I need to load connects to a TV but isn't sending the audio/visual signals so it will be a blind load, this is why I want an empty drive to start with so it only has one choice. I guess I could just erase everything and see what happens but I like to know what to expect first.

Yes it's safe to remove the garbage bloatware that comes on flash drives. If it's the U3 software you'll have to download the uninstall tool from the U3 website. I would format it as FAT32 unless your player that is attached to your TV only can read FAT.

On cards under 2GB you usualy see better performance with fat than fat32. That said, you may want to format it with a different allocation unit size as this makes a big speed difference on flash devices.

Do it all at once by plugging in the usb drive, select My Computer, right click on the usb drive, select properties, and then format it using FAT32. That will over write anything on the drive and free up all the space.

That will put fat32 on it, and fat32 will slow down 95% of flash cards under 2gb.
