HP laptop cannot connect to Lynksys router

Hi, My new HP HDX 16 1140US keeps on dropping my signal from my WRT54GS router it allows me to use internet access for a minute or and then it drops the signal.I changed numerous setting on computer and router and downloaded firmware
on my WRT54GS from version 2 to version Firmware Version: v4.71.4. I have no trouble connecting the computer with an Ethernet cable but I want to setup my laptop to connect wirelessly.

PLEASE HELP!

Might be interference from other electrical equipment.

Try switching the wireless channel to another frequency.

Try switching off other equipment else such as TV, cordless phones etc.

Could even be your modem is too close to the router, if that is how you are setup.
