hey I need some help. i'm working on a projest that needs to have my DVD media burnt at 1x speed. this might sound dumb but can a 4x DVD be burnt at 1x? Do I need a burner that burns at 1x to do it? my liteon only goes down to 2.4x speed. will i need to buy a burner that does 1x especially or can this one do it somehow. if i used DVD RW would that be able to burn at 1x? coming back to the discs themselves, does a 4x dvd mean that it can be burnt up to 4x or only at 4x or what. I'm still learning about write speeds on DVDs so if someone could help me out that would be great.

It has to do with the disc and not the burner. The burner just reads what speeds the disc is capable of.

What software are you using to burn? Nero allows me to go down to 1X with -R media and 2.4X with +R media. It sounds like you're using +R media which means the lowest you can go is 2.4X as far as I know.

If your burner is dual-format, then buy some -R media so you can burn at 1X. If you're not sure if your burner is dual-format, tell us what you have and we'll let you know :)
