I have been considering what I need to watch tv with a pc. As far as I can tell I can download virtually all tv off the net except for local news and maybe even that! This would mean that I can build myself a pc that can do virtually everything I need to do and get rid of my dvd player (for movies), etc. Then all I need is a receiver to deal with the audio, although I suspect what I really need is a decent amplifier to run my speakers (5.1 - need a min of about 50watts per speaker). Before I do anything, however, I thought I would ask if anybody had thoughts on this.

I would be grateful for any and all thoughts, suggestions, etc.
