I've read old posts on this, but I still can't get it work.
My power DVD (brand new) has NO advanced features tab/button and NO capture button.
any help would be appreciated.
If it's on my screen, I have the RIGHT to capture it.

Where did you get it? I've both the OEM ver. 4.0 and the paid for version 5.0 that both have the advanced tab.
My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

It's probably a stripped-down version for distribution with Dells would be my best guess.

Just a quick note.
If you're planning to capture a screen and then use the art to make DVD covers... please be aware that the quality is not good enought for a quality cover.

Well, I just payed $25 for the upgrade to version 5.0
it STILL DOESN'T WORK!
I now have the 'advanced' button.
The I click 'snapshot'
I then click 'capture to clipboard'
Then I try to paste into PaintShop pro.. NOTHING in the clipboard
So I tried clikcing set as wallpaper... NOTHING!
So I tried save to file.. NOTHIHNG!
Any thoughts?
I feel like I've been ripped off for $25

Hiya,
Configuration -> General tab
Advanced -> Capture tab
Capture to file
Current video size
Remember to pause the playback BEFORE capturing.
The file will be a BMP in the place you specified with a filename similar to pdvd_001.bmp
Have Fun....

I have 'player settings'
under 'player settings' I have 'Advanced'

Then, like I said before, I have all the choices you all are telling me I should have, but they DO NOT WORK!
I select "capture to clipboard"
Then I click OK (in the advanced tab)
Then I click OK (in the configuration menu)
NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING in the clipboard.

Hmmm....
That IS odd.
Both Nephilim and myself have PowerDVD, he has v4, I have XP (v5)...
Are you sure it is PowerDVD??
What version is it? (look in the help file)

Right click on the screen while you're playing a DVD and see if that gives you the option. Most DVD playing apps are pretty straight forward and navigate similarly.

Right.
I'm a computer professional so I understand the concept of looking in the correct folder for the file.
I payed $25 for the upgrade to version 5 and I've been ripped-off.
NOTHING I've tried works.

OK.
I had hardware acceleration enabled.
Power DVD's help file told me, although very small print, that this can (and did) cause snapshot to not work.
So now I got it working.
Thanks to all for your attempts to help

Oh, come on now, RWG...
Not EVERY "computer professional" is like that..
I, for my sins, am refered to as such - though I must admit that RTFM! is one of my favourite chants ;)
Another acronym I use often:
PEBCAK - Problem exists between chair and keyboard.
And a REVERSAL:
Computer User, Non Technical :O
Have Fun...
