Hi there, great forum btw, actually guided me through the whole backup process from scratch. I searched through the forum and googled my questions but still couldn't find the proper answer, so please help me!!
My question is, I have PS2 games that are less than 4.7 GB, and I heard that rebuilding a game makes it run smoother, so do I rebuild these games anyway?
Or does rebuilding actually affect the quality of the content therefore it's better not to rebuild it if possible?
Another quick quiz, can I rebuild a movie dvd with Gnie Expert?
Rebuilding a game disc usually consists of lowering the bitrate/quality of stuff like audio and FMVs. So you'll get lower-bitrate (and thus lower-quality) movies, but the actual game itself will play fine.
Rebuilding is usually only necessary if you need to shrink a game down to DVD-5 size. What you have there is fine; just burn it to DVD and you can play it via Swap Magic/modchip. It also helps if you're using USBExtreme/Advance, as the lower bitrate will create less stuttering in movies and such.
As for the movie DVDs, I'm not sure about gnie's Xpert tool, but you can just get programs like DVD Shrink or DVDFab (or AnyDVD, if you're looking for excellent payware) to rip your DVD and shrink it to DVD5 size.

Hope that helps.
That's great information, thanks for your time and knowledge!!
USBextreme looks interesting, I might get it if my PS2 breaks up and I have to get a new console.
