Keep getting "Invalid PS2 Disc" with Swap Magic

I just got my Swap Magic 3.6 for the Fat PS2 (with slide tool) and I tried to boot up my backup and it just comes up as "Invalid PS2 Disc". One thing that's weird though is that from all the guides I've read, you have to pull out the disc tray with the slide tool but for me I just swipe the slide tool and it comes out automatically. Am I doing this wrong perhaps?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I found out how to open it manually with the slide tool, but when I put in my backup and try to slide to the right, I don't feel like it's locked into place. I've tried numerous times to no avail so I still get the Invalid PS2 Disc error.

OK, I finally figured out how to lock it back into place but now it still says Invalid PS2 Disc. I even tried the original and it said the same thing.

One thing I did notice though was that the sound of the PS2 once I hit the X button was not as loud when I finally locked it into place.

i just unscrewed my whole top off and just unscrewed my drive cover so i was just able to lift the drive cover and switch disks, but then again, who would do that?
