can anybody help please. I am using dvd+rw and have problems playing on stand alone players. (1.disk freezes,2. disk jumpy.) does anybody know if there is a way to check disk: like scandsk or chkdsk. sujrface scan if disk is ok or has bad sectors.

Did you booktype (bitsetting) it as DVD-ROM?

Nero DiscSpeed (used to be CD/DVD Speed) can do ?DiscScan?.
It is a freeware. http://www.cdspeed2000.com/
