does it get real hot on the bottom? wet the backside of your hand & place near the vents of the laptop to see if can feel air movement or not from fan as sounds like a thermal shutdown.

thanks for the reply! i see and feel the fan spinning. now i have a problem of the computer LCD going dim. this just happened after i tested it with the wet trick test now i my laptop screen is very faint; its barely visible. i can only see it when i put a lamp up to it. i doubt that this was suppose to happen but the laptop hasn't shutdown ever since this occured it seems like my problems are growing i thank you for the fixing my shutdown problem but do you have any ideas for why my LCD screen goes dim? is it linked to the fan? thanks once again

are you running off battery or external power because if battery the screen will dim a bit but not to what you describe? sounds like a backlight problem. backlight is the light source just behind the lcd screen.
