I'm pretty happy with my B310u, specially considering it's an external unit and the abuse I seem to put all my computer electronics through. :/
For BD ripping, it's a solid drive. I have not had any issues while backing up both my brothers' and my BD collections and speed wise, it's very consistent.
Referring to drives hovering around the 200 dollar mark, there aren't many that stand out for the features the bx310u has. You can look at the Liteon dx401s, yet it's slower in all the tests.
