Networking a Sony Bravia

I just bought a new Sony bravia kdl-32j1, i hooked it up to the router via ethernet. it connected and i was able to find it on my computer. i shared pictures, videos and music. the tv was able to access the pictures and music but it doesn't detect any videos. i have various video files in the videos folder including original vista video samples but when i try to access them on the tv it can't find anything.

i thought it might be a codec problem but i had i tried the vista sample videos and the a video i took with my camera but nothing shows up.

anyone have any suggestions?
