help choosing samsung 950 series or 6000?

Hi i am new to the board and would greatly appreciate any help. I have done some research and these were the two tv's i have narrowed it down to. The samsung950 and the samsung6000. I didn't bother with a plasma because of the image retention issues with gaming,especially with the release of ufc and fight night around the corner i would surely wreck that type of television. My primary use will be blurays, sports,and gaming. The local salesman said it's no comparison because of the 950's local dimming but i have viewed both televisions side by side and didn't notice a difference. However it was not hooked up to a bluray or game console which will be my main purpose. Is he just trying to make a larger sale or is there truth to his statements? He claims the 950 has a 3-d effect but didnt want to take the time to show me the differences between the two sets. Also which ever set i get what's good place to get decent hdmi cables as i am clueless about what are the best brands. Last thing i have heard alot about motion blur is this something to worry about with these two sets?
