Well...I have recently bought a dell desktop, which is StudioXPS that has i-core 7 quad core 940 with a very decent to top graphic card and 6G rams with vista home premium OS. However, the moment I turned on the PC, I don't really like it. You know! It is slower than my Athon AMD 64 3000, which is 2.1Hz. The boot up time of the StudioXPS takes about one minute to finish the loading. Is it normal? It is brand new and I have never touched it but the first time I put my hand on it, the slow speed occured. I just set up my account and then that's all. Usually Dell will provide you with the virus free scanner software, and I did remove that. Same as original, virus free software that has not yet been removed. Besides, I heard some people said that, those who prefer overclock, Dell will build you a desktop with cheap parts and most of the Desktops cannot be overclocked. I am just wondering what you guys think of Dell? I'd like to build a PC with dual window and how you guys do that?

For those with i core 7 intel CPU, how long does it take to boot up your PC? My AMD athon 64 3000 only takes 25 seconds. Just wonder why happens to the damn dell desktop. When I tried to call them, they just told me that this is normal and there are no return and no techicians to fix this issues. What the heck!

It's full of garbage just like all OEM systems...and some of the garbage does not even have uninstallers. And yes, they cut corners on their parts (not as bad as some companies, but still not even as good as modern ASUS). You should not need to overclock an I7-940 to be faster than an old Athlon64-3000. The only excuse for such a long boot time would be if it had lots of RAID arrays...and I know it does not. You can't even re-install windows correctly, as they use the OEM version and do not provide a reinstall disk (just a recovery disk with all the garbage built in...and you have to pay extra for that!). Did you even read around before ordering it? This is standard for OEMs...a big part of why so many of us build our own. I would say to file a complaint...but there are already about a billion complaints against Dell, so it will not make any difference.

well-said...thanks so much for the reply. Since my bros just wanna get one custom built as he didn't really know how to build one and I do know how to build but I don't have much experience about building one. So I suggested him get one from newegg. Do u think it is good to get one from newegg?
