Hi,

A friend has asked me for advice about what HDTV's are good for a broad range of uses. Unfortunately I don't know too much about TV's, other then the Samsung (can't remember the model atm) I own is very nice. It will be used mainly for gaming (ps3), although I'm pretty sure a good HDTV is good at everything and it doesn't really matter if it's watching tv or playing a game. So basically I'm looking for recommendations for good HDTV's (1080P) in the 32" range.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Consider this according to recent articles published in Pcmagazine and Pcworld most all lcd hdtv screens are made in one of 3 factories the only thing that seperates them is the software used for controls and the frames. Samsung & LG continue to produce their own screens, while Toshiba & Sony have made a split manufacturing decision one makes the screen the other makes the frames each has thier own software unlikely competing bedfellows if you as me. These consolidations were done in order to reduce costs and lower prices to improve unit sales. Two great sites for finding deals is Newegg.com, Tigerdirect.com and you can read helpful reviews at teh above mentioned sites are computershopper.com another great resource for price comparison and user reviews is pricegrabber.com Best Buy has an in house lable called Dynex and they can be darn right cheap I helped a friend purchase one it said 720p/1080i but when we attached the pc using the ATI 3450 graphics card the resolution showed up as 1080p as did my upscaling Philips DVD player. Me personally I own an Olevia 237t since the day I plugged it in I never have had to change the picture settings color is great as is sharpness and it was rated just like the Dynex but plays 1080p easily and clearly. So in many ways lcd's have gone the way of HP computers they aren't really hp the motherboard is ASUS.

Thanks for the reply elliot. Sounds like it's pretty much just pick one you like and go with it, which is what I told him. Thanks for the info, good to know this stuff for when I have enough money for a HDTV.
