I found this guide http://mythingsaboutcomputers.blogspot.com/
and thought everything was really simple. Is it ok to follow this guide? Is there anything wrong with it? Don't want to ruin my first computer, thanks!

it doesnt look like there is anything wrong with it. the only thing i would say is that the guide is a simplification of building a pc (even though building one is simple already). it just basically said place everything where it belongs, lol.

the order doesnt really matter, but it does differ from case to case. i personally put together everything on the motherboard (install the ram, cpu, heatsink, videocard, etc), then screw the board into the case. after that, you connect all the cables from the psu and such. i just followed the guide and manual that came with my motherboard and i was all set. the heatsink was the most difficult because i was afraid about the thermal paste.

It's not a complicated of a process to build a computer. Usually for peoples first build it's intimidating because they can see it going wrong in a million different ways, but if you ever played with lego you can build a computer. If you are buying components and aren't sure about compatibility it wouldn't hurt to post them in here and we can let you know if you'll run into any problems.

Not the most accurate article on the subject, the author clearly has only built a few computers (or maybe only one). Below is a quote that proves this:

"NOTE: SATA cables are red." - No, they are not always red. My case has 9 sata cables, and only one of them is red, the rest are silver or blue.
