I usually don't download large files but just recently did just that at Demonoid. It was about 10 GBs down and I seeded over 10 GBs.
However, when looking at my ratios at Demonoid my downloading of 10 GBs has registered but nothing at all has registered for all of the seeding that I did?????
This appears to be a huge problem with Private Torrent sites not being able to keep proper stats for users.
I've done everything I can think of: cleared cache, logged in to Demonoid to set IP address, downloaded the torrent, stopped it and started it again, etc.
Any suggestions as to what could be causing the problem of not registering upload/seeding amounts.
All I can say is roll with it. Their stat usage is horrible....I have a 0.72 ranking, and I know I should be much higher than that. Don't worry about the stats. Just do what you got to do....as long as you know you at least leeched the amount you seeded, then don't worry about the stats.
Demonoid, in particular, has a problem maintaining a proper ratio for only some. I found utorrent to be causing that for me and the only fix I found was to stop the torrent when it had achieved the ratio I wanted but keep utorrent open until Demonoid updated. Kind of hard to do when Demonoid only update's once a day and that's the middle of the night here, my downloading wasn't even registering and I showed as inactive. Apparently, Demonoid isn't very fussy when it come's to ratio's anyway and people aren't getting banned for bad ratio's, least, that was the word there. Still, it is annoying. Just a head's up, keep an eye on your ratio at other site's too if using utorrent; after two year's of trouble free use, utorrent (same version) started causing no upload's to register anywhere after the torrent completed and was killing my ratio's, a switch to Vuze and thing's are fine again.
Attempt to keep your ratio to .80 but nothing will be done unless you are really taking the p*** .. hit + run tends to get reported to the admins these days .. and another hint.. when you want ratio on private trackers turn dht off and keep it tracker peers only.. otherwise the world and his dog can connect to you and you see nothing in your up ratio.. because it's not going through the tracker.
Also (important) IF a torrent is listed as "external" you won't get either upload or download credits.
Super, thanks for all the information. I did have a ratio of 2.75 or higher but thanks to the recent downloading I did of 10 GBs and the seeding not registering I'm down to about 0.57?
Mistycat, I might just do that and change to Vuze. I'm currently using the most recent version of uTorrent 1.8.2. However, I've had problems at another private torrent site with my uploading disappearing somewhere ....!
The torrent took about 2-3 days to download so my system was on the whole time. I did stop it and re-start to make sure it was registering at Demonoid -- didn't help though. My ISP does cycle IP addresses so I also logged into Demonoid a few times. I don't know if there is another way around that problem.

Varnull, I did make sure dht was off (disabled) however I'm not too sure about "keep it tracker peers only". How do I do that?
I couldn't comment on ”torrent.. it's owned by macromedia inc.. the anti copying people.. not on any of my systems.. ever.. I don't trust it or the owners after looking at firewall connection ip logs with it running.
Here's the beginning: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=17278 Some of the language isn't that great. Cohen did say his joining the MPAA and owning utorrent wasn't a conflict, that was a ridiculous statement to make plus he fired the utorrent team except Ludvig Strigeus and brought in his own (never thought much of that). What troubled me the most was when he said he never created Bittorrent for illegal filesharing. Anyway, old thread but interesting. Edit: I've always gotten it here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_vuze/ because I like an older version but that mean's saving it and disconnecting from the net to install it as it update's too fast to stop. Incidentally, it was varnull who suggested Vuze to me and it work's perfectly. I alway's hesitated installing it because I thought it might slow my system but I see no difference from utorrent here.
