External Monitor issue?

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop. I often use my Samsung HD TV as an external monitor to watch videos using windows media player 11. After a few minutes, sometimes longer, my movie goes black from a second or two to sometimes longer, nothing more than 15 seconds. My movie continues to play in the background without losing it's place. I have not ever had any problems in the past. I use another Dell laptop with the same bothering problem. Whats up? I tend to think it might have to do with the TV, reading my own thread. I can play videos without any problem on WMP without the external monitor. At times, I can view my videos for a 1/2hr or longer, without the black screen. I feel by explaining my issue that in fact my problem is with the TV. Anyone experience same?
