Trouble backing up DL media on DL media

I've no problem backing up single and dual-layer media onto single-layer discs, so long as I'm only dealing with a main title situation.
But I'm having a horrible time whenever I try to back up a FULL DL disc with multiple titles & menus. All I manage is to make coasters of my expensive DL blanks.
I've tried a straight disc-to-disc copy with DVDFab Platinum; these fail to burn or fail to play properly.
DVDFab Platinum will rip the disc and create the assorted VOBs, but will not reassemble them from the hard drive to burn. It won't even make an ISO I can burn with another program.
DVD Shrink won't burn a working disc or create a good ISO, either.
The titles are too large or complex to encode for single-layer with my version of DVD Rebuilder.
Is there anything that can make reliable ISOs from ripped files on my hard drive? I can burn large ISOs reliably with CDBurnerXP.
Thanks.

Right. I was able to create an ISO with ImgBurn, then burn the ISO to a working disc with CDBurnerXP--I couldn't get ImgBurn to successfully burn the ISO it had created.
Thank you.

Get rid of that media.
Where did you get that firmware?

I don't buy into the whole performing the Japanese tea ceremony before opening your new Taiyo Yuden to maintain your mad ninja burning skills mythology. I don't spend weekends calibrating my lasers or running PlexTools. Life is too short, and I got more important things to do.
There's nothing wrong with the media; the software is buggy as hell.
The guy who codes DVD Fab puts 90% of his time into keeping up with new protection schemes, so it rips well but pumps out coasters half the time if you try to burn with it.
All thanks to dialysis1; ImgBurn works great.

you do know that you can set Fab to burn with ImgBurn or NeroBurnRom???
Dialysis is right, get rid of the media and get some Verb DLs and burn them with ImgBurn. DLs are more troublesome than SLs.

I might get Verbatims the next time I buy, but these Memorex discs are working fine. I just use CDBurnerXP to burn anything double-layer. I use DVDFab for ripping only. DVD Shrink is fine for movie-only stuff that fits on a single layer disc. But ImgBurn is the only thing that makes reliable ISOs when I have to go double-layer or copy discs with menus.
ImgBurn rocks.

Oh, crap. Spoke too soon.
I assumed that because these discs played on my PC, they'd play on my set-top DVD player, too. Well, they don't.
Some won't get past the menus. Some will play for a while, then start stuttering & freezing.
I'm back to square one, trying to burn reliably to double-layer media.
