Many people say that you should not keep dvds or dvd-r in PVC sleeves. That they can damage disks.

Here is an example of a pvc sleeve

http://www.computercity.com.au/store/pop...e048ue9o2jg2a22

I did my wn test.

I placed a dvd and a dvd-r into a pvc sleeve, maybe its an poly sleeve. The pack did not say.

I placed the sleeve in a glass jar, and placed it outside in the suns rays. I also placed a thermometer in the jar to watch the temperature.

The sleeve was in the jar for about 2.5 hours.

The temperature in the jar was between 41 degress celsius and 58 degrees celsius. This is about 100-135 degress fahrenheit.

After taking the disks out. The dvd and dvd-r both played in the dvd player with no problems.

must be a pretty good disk to have no problems with direct sunlight.. most cmc disks will start to peel if left in direct sunlight for a couple of days.

Only thing I have found with cheap pvc sleeves is.. some of the cheap ones are rather tight and tend to warp the disks over time... I use quality ones.. £3 per 100 instead of £1 per 100 .. the difference shows.

Thanks for test. If you want to go deeper, you should have a control- no sleeve or jewel case. And then run a whole scan.

BurningAs-Sounds like a Plan ? - I would tend to agree ! I'm not saying it Could'nt Cause Problem ( The Sleeves ) But I would think that if the PVC pr Whatever Compound that the DVD/CD Binder /Storage or Wallet Manufacturers Used was that unstable It would'nt last long enough to Cause a problem ? Just My Opinion mind You ! I think The biggest problem is the Dimensions of the sleeves in the sense of being too tight as you said! - If I can Afford it Space- Wise I tend to prefer Dvd Cases with the Slim-line Cases Being a Space saving option , In those I've Tried Verbatim's Branded & They are Excellent ! and Dollar Tree 's Version {3 to a pack} And theese are a bit flimsy and the clear poly sleeve is also thinner and may detach from the case! So Other than the 1st time I bought a pack to try these I have'nt used them again ! I have used snall CD/DVD walets abd one of thise hard Plastic & aluminium DJ style cases a well ! But A. Being a traditionalist , B. Liking the protection of standard cases !. & c. Being Cheap !!!! -I follow the Teachings of Our Esteemed Spiritual leader ,Guru , Grand Poobah & Lord High -Everything Else JVC- " Free is Free !!!!!!!" And get them from the Dumpster !!!! To Quote LoNdon Tipton " Yeah Me !!!!!!!" But Regardless this was an intersting subject to look into !!! Good luck and Happy Burning My friends !!!!!

When I buy dvd sleeves and they are too tight.

I usually place 2 old coaster dvds in each sleeve.

This can help stretch the case and not be as tight
