have some considerations to take into account whaen purchasing new camcorder

1) must have view finder
2) must have hd
3) as person does not have a pc suitable to edit HD files yet (will in future) must have sd option
4)resonable price

sony sr11 and sr12 fill above as can record in sd mode

new panasonic 300 series have "built in mpeg2 encoder" i do not understand exactly what this is. From what i can see it can be used to put the video directly on standard dvd directly using special panasonic dvd burner without using pc. Can it send the video from camera to PC in mpeg2 format for editing?

does Panasonic HDC-HS100EBK have this built in encoder?

if a camera only records in HD is there any easy option to convert to mpeg2 for editing on older pc?

are there any other cameras you think might fit better here?
is it worth waiting for new sony sr range to come out?
