I'm hoping there's an IFOEdit/subtitle master here who can help me on this one; I'm very close, but can't get it to stick. Here's what I've done:

1. DVDShrink - shrink main movie with english subtitles to a single unbroken VOB (to make DVDLab easier to deal with) small enough to leave room for menus & still fit on a DVD+R - still good quality

2. DVDLab - created chapters and simple main and scene selection menus. Compiled output works fine.

3. IFOEdit - started at step 9 of this guide:
http://216.239.53.104/search?q=cache:rL5TYu00yX4J:www.jltoca.uaivip.com.br/files/DVDLabSubsGuide.pdf+dvdlab+ifo+subtitle&hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=UTF-8
to get the VTS_01_0.IFO file to 'remember' its subpicture and even corrected the colors by referring back to the oroginal DVDShrink files. I also found some help on determining whether the subtitles show by default or not.

I was actually able to get the subtitles to show, since DVDLab doesn't _remove_ the subpicture streams but can't yet handle displaying them (so far as I can find anyway). The problem is that something changed then interrupts the chapter selections and/or I can't seem to find a way to automatically correct this or to have the subtitles turn on and off without losing the menus somehow.

I feel that I'm close but need help from an IFOEdit expert. To be clear, I do understand that I can burn and use the DVDShrink files without menus, I just want both chapter menus and subtitles. I don't really care about keeping the original menus.

I've spent tooooo many hours messing around with this stuff, trying to find a way to do this without having to spend an entire afternoon to save a single movie with chaps and subtitles. Your suggestions are much appreciated.
