I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista, now when I start the computer, Windows Boot Manager always comes up.

How can I get rid of this?

When you did your install did you do upgrade and keep your original files or did you upgrade and do a clean install? if you did upgrade with original files in place it is gonna always ask you if you want ot boot into vista or previous system. However if you would like to make your pc run faster better and get rid of boot screen option there is a way to install Vista cleanly from an upgrade disc I do it all the time. First back up you files onto a thumb drive or some discs the go to this site and follow the steps exactly http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_upgrade_clean.asp
btw a clean install of vista works much better than an upgrade leaving the existing files on

Thanks Elliott. I actually found a website that gave me the answer to my question (after Googling and Googling for days). But your post is very interesting. I think I will do that the next off day that I get. A clean install from an upgrade disk, who would have thought that would be possible?

Seeing your system specs I also suggest getting the fastest ram your system can handle like pc5300 or pc6400 & putting 2gb in making your system more of a beast than it is.

I'm planning on it. All of the sites that I've been looking at says that this computer will only hold 1GB per slot. So I'll get four 1GB's and see how it runs.

This has been a great computer and I hate to get rid of it, but I'm looking at those Quad Cores and drooling.

By the way, if anybody needs to know how to bypass the Windows Boot Manager, it's easy.....

1. Open the Control Panel (Classic View).
2. Click on the System icon.
3. Click Advanced Systems Settings.
4. Click Settings in the Startup Recovery Settings box on the Advanced Tab.
5. Click on the OS that you want to boot all the time to highlight it.
6. Uncheck the Time to Display the List of Operating Systems at Boot box to turn off the display list at boot up.
7. Click OK and OK again.
