Hi, hope this is posted in the correct place. Apologies if it is not.

After getting a number of abusive phone calls we would like to connect phone to laptop to recrd conversations.

Is it possible to do this and if so what do I need. The recordings have to be of good quality.

Do I need software ? if so any reccomendations.

Also is there software available that will log all phone calls ?.

Best Wishes

Neil

It would pay to also contact your isp & inform them of the calls

do you have what looks like 2 telephone jacks(1 narrow & 1 wide) in the laptop? the narrow 1 is for your builtin dialup modem & the wide 1 is to connect to a router or dsl/cable modem.

I used to stick a microphone on the earpiece of the phone.. it will pick up your end of the conversation too.. making a wired connection to the phone network to record calls used to be illegal, but a mic stuck to the handset isn't a wired connection and works just fine XD

want a better suggestion tho? .. most phone companies and law enforcement don't give a toss about abusive calls.. so when you get a call like this just put the phone to one side without hanging up and go do something else. Let them rant on to themselves.. it's costing them not you.. and when they get the message you aren't even listening they will give up.
Right now you are giving them what they want.. the satisfaction of causing you upset and hassle... Like all cowards they will give it up when they realise it isn't having the desired effect.
All you need to do is keep a log of the times and dates of each call.. so you have a record of how often and how long they go on for.. that will tally with somebodys mobile bill or payphone use (these morons usually use a mobile or payphone and are impossible to trace.. law enforcement have way more important things to do.. like eating donuts and harassing innocent motorists)

That's what I would do.. ignore them and they will go away.

Thanks for the reply.

I know who is doing it. Can't say too much other than his bosses would like proof of what he is saying / threatening.

Therefore need to record some conversations and also log the incoming call via a programme so it cannot be falsified.

Need to do this ASAP

the recording through mic will have a creation time and date .. and like everything on a computer it can be falsified.. which is why computerised evidence isn't admissable in court as any more than hearsay.. http://change-file-date-time-software-to...e.com/info.html

to record audio you can use anything like audacity to keep anything in or out of your soundcard.. use a mic to get it in there.

If this is in the workplace then surely the boss will recognise the voice? .. or get the switchboard to verify the details of the call.. switchboards log everything ;)

I guess you are wondering how I know all this stuff... I have been the victim of abuse in the workplace and at home.. that's how.. and I ended up being fired for complaining about it.
