I'm trying to get a Playstation 1 backup to work on a PS2 - I'm attempting to use the swap card method (load original disk in browser, pull out tray, replace with new disk, push back tray), but I'm not having any luck.

I don't get any errors, when I try to load the disk, instead the browser screen fades to black and then fades in again. It works if a different (original) disk is inserted instead.

Could anyone tell me the possible possible things I have done wrong?
Thanks.

And it actually works on the new SCPH-90001 model as long as sensors blocked.
Not that its relevant to his specific problem, just thought I would add that.

OP:
I just tried what you said, and I got up to the PS1 logo. The game had a hacked PS logo screen, and it loaded, but the game would not load after that, did you get this far?

I burnt the disk using CloneCD, I believe I used 1x speed burning.

@shinobi_3:
No, it doesn't load at all - the browser screen fades out and then back in - the game is not altered.

Ok i found out my disc was way to scratched. Right now, im playin jojo's bizarre adventure, burnt copy. Heres what i did exactly.

Burned the .img file with Imgburn
X4 speed
Turned on PS2, and went to browser menu
Used swap tool to switch my real game (Capcom vs SNK) with the burnt one, then I played it.

I have a SCPH-500001 ps2.

Clone CD is fine, but your burn is way slow.

I would burn it at 12x or 1/4 speed of your CD burner

It kinda depends on what media your using to burn to, I use Memorex DVD's and CD's. the best way I've found for PS1 backups is to burn to the Memorex CD-R's at 1X and they work fine for me as to which I have to burn PS2 games on Memorex DVD+R's at 8X in order for them to work.

Really? I thought the slower the burn the less errors there would be?

Again it depends upon what type of burner you have, what speed and brand of disks you use.

But check a lot of older tutorials, they say to burn at 12x.
This is actually not new stuff.

I have burned all mine at that and they work flawlessly.

Too slow a burn , again depending upon all factors can cause errors the same as too fast a burn.

You may end up with a few coasters finding the right speed that works for you.

"japedo" uses 1x on crap media such as "memorex" but it works for him.
He is also using the very latest PS2 - SCPH 90001 with a good laser.
